Room data sheets (or RDS) are used to capture in a systematic manner the details and requirements for each room on the project. They are typically prepared by the client during the briefing phase (also known as architectural programing in the US) of the design process. They can be updated throughout the design process to reflect changes or to give a clearer picture of the people responsible for delivering a project.
The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows users to create room (or space), data sheets using a Revit project. It is a fast and accurate tool that can be used for sheets, elevations and schedule views. The tool can generate 3D plans elevations, plans, and schedule views of rooms or spaces.
The tool will default to the Room Numbering Template and Sheet Format that are created by the Revit Project. However you can choose a different sheet style and name from the Tool Options tab. You can also click ‘Load Config’ …’ on the toolbar to load previously saved configurations which will replace the current settings. This helps reduce the amount manual work required for each different room or space size and type.
The ‘Naming’ tab allows users to choose whether the chosen room/space is included in the Sheet Name text box that appears on the left of the screen. The ‘View Title: option specifies the text that appears in the title bar for each view. View Increment specifies how many increments are there between each view on the sheet. The ‘Spacing’ option allows you to alter the spacing between each view. The “Exclude Titles from Estimating View Sizes for Sheets’ option will ensure that titles are not included in the calculation here of the number of views on a sheet.
